Standard First Aid – BLS
This comprehensive 18-hour course combines our Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider courses for a best-in-class foundation in emergency response and care. This instructor-led course is designed to meet provincial workplace regulatory requirements* and is intended for healthcare and emergency care professionals and providers across varying disciplines. The course reinforces how to recognize and stabilize ill or injured persons with a number of life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Successful students earn a 3-year Standard First Aid certification and one-year BLS Provider card.

Frequently asked questions
Do you offer small class sizes?
Class sizes are limited to 8 students. This allows ample time for leach learner to practice skills and gain confidence. There may be times when class sizes are less than 8.

Do you offer courses for first responders?
First responders are considered” Healthcare workers” and we do offer a BLS program that can be taught in half a day. Additional training is also available upon request, such as response to opioid poisonings. We can run a multitude of different real-life scenarios to help you gain confidence in the field.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Refunds are available only if the class is cancelled by Northumberland First Aid and CPR.
Do you have a vacinnation policy?
Heart & Stroke strongly recommends that all resuscitation instructors and their students be fully vaccinated in order to create the safest possible teaching and learning environment. Heart & Stroke requires that each credentialed instructor create and implement their own COVID-19 vaccination policy and make it easily accessible to students prior to course registration to help students make an informed decision about their resuscitation education.
